Positive response by consumers and businesses to the policy of charging the plastic bag

The response of both consumers and businesses to the policy of charging the plastic carrier bag, as of July 1^st, 2018, is impressive.

According to the results of sample surveys that the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) organised in Cyprus supermarkets, the decline approached 85%.

In Cyprus, until 30/06/2018 the per person use exceeded 140 bags per year and the goal is to reduce this number to 90 bags per person by 2019 and to 40 by 2025.
