A delegation of the Cyprus Women Bi-communal Coalition (CWBC) recently had a meeting with the leadership of the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB) at OEB’s premises in Nicosia. From CWBC’s side, the meeting was attended by Mrs. Kaiti Kliridou, Mrs. Praxoula Antoniadou, Mrs. Stefi Drakou, Mrs. Ipek Borman and Mrs. Meral Birinci-Sonan.
OEB was represented by the Chairman Mr. Antonis Antoniou, Ms. Dimitra Karandoki – Member of the Board of the OEB, the General Director, the Assistant General Director and other Directors.
As CWBC officials explained, the main objectives of their organization are:
(a) strengthening the role of women in the peacebuilding process by promoting a culture of peace and reconciliation and
(b) the full, equal and meaningful participation of women at the negotiating table at all levels of the process by including the gender dimension in the negotiations.
The representatives of CWBC analyzed their initiatives and actions to promote their goals and there was a wide exchange of views with special emphasis on the economic issues and the benefits that will arise from the reunification. It was agreed to continue the contact and hold new meetings depending on the developments.
